THE AIMHIGHER SCHEME
This was a government funded initiative which has been extremely successful both locally and nationally. Plume feels being involved in the scheme has had a very positive impact on our students and we intend to continue with the scheme for the foreseeable future.
The main aim of the scheme is to provide students who have been selected for the programme with a variety of experiences that will enable them to make an informed judgement about whether Higher Education is for them. As well as raising aspirations the scheme also assists in raising students’ attainments.
Students on the scheme visit universities, interview undergraduates and have the option to attend courses at Higher Education institutions, which includes some residential summer schools.
There is no doubt that these experiences are invaluable, extending students knowledge and understanding of opportunities available to them post 6th form College.
