JACK PETCHEY ACHIEVEMENT AWARD
Jack Petchey OBE
Plume School has been nominating students for the Jack Petchey Achievement Award since January 2008. Plume School runs the Jack Petchey Gold Award, this enables us to nominate students and choose nine winners each year. We are also entitled to nominate and choose a Leader Award Winner each year. The Foundation exists to raise the aspirations of young people, to help them take advantage of opportunities and play a full part in society.
As a winner, the student receives a framed certificate, an enamel badge, a cheque for £200 to use on a project in school of their choice and a winners medallion at a special presentation evening usually held in September of each year. Leader Award winners are appointed once a year and are given an opportunity to apply for a grant from the scheme to use at the school.
Jack Petchey has been running this scheme since 1999, through the Jack Petchey Foundation, which gives grants to programmes and projects that benefit young people aged 11-25. The major focus of their work is the Achievement Award Scheme, but that is not the only work the foundation carries (please visit their website for more details, web address below). The Foundation focuses on London and Essex. Since it has been established the Foundation has awarded grants exceeding over £65million.
