We are a dedicated team that firmly believes that every child matters and that the core purpose of education is to prepare students to lead fulfilled, productive, responsible, happy and successful adult lives. We seek to do this by enabling each student to discover and develop their full potential.
The need for self-belief, high self-esteem, individual self-confidence and capability to manage personal change is important for building well-grounded individuals. The Inclusion Team offers support and expertise that promotes and enables positive solutions for students experiencing barriers to their learning. At times, all that is required is positive reinforcement and confidence-boosting.
The SEND Core Team consists of:

We have a team of TAs managed by Mrs. R. Barbrook (Teaching Assistant, Interventions and Events Manager) who leads TA deployment and main intervention areas within the department.

A variety of interventions are available to support student learning. These include:
Literacy, Numeracy, Reading and Spelling schemes, Handwriting, Basic typing skills sessions, Social Skills, Beacon (Social stories and interaction) and Circle Time to develop social skills and confidence.
This unit provides a support for year 7 students who may struggle to cope within the first year of school. Its’ aim is to support and boost literacy and numeracy levels of students achieving well below expectation on entry. Using the Springboard and fast track model, lessons are planned, targeted and differentiated to suit individual students within the group. Our aim is always to rebuild confidence and knowledge so that students return to the main curriculum.
This is also extended to our Tutor basic sessions. These sessions are aimed at helping to improve literacy, numeracy and social skills. Additional support is offered to our readers below a reading age of 9 years through TA targeted support in the SEND Inclusion rooms.
In addition to this, we work closely with a wide range of outside agencies such as Educational Psychologists, Speech and Language Therapists, outreach support services such as YMCA, Autism Anglia, Travel Training, IAG, Families in Focus and Occupational Therapists.
