Work Experience Updates

Welcome to the Year 10 Work Experience page. This page will contain all information and documentation regarding Year 10 work experience for 2012.

As part of our Work-Related Learning programme –work experience is an essential part of the school curriculum looking at the skills and qualities required for future working life.

All Year 10 students will have the chance to complete two full weeks in a real work environment working as an employee of a “real” business.  The period set aside for this year will be between 09 July and 20 July 2012 inclusive.  

During this period the Year 10 timetable will be suspended, enabling staff to carry out 'on site' visits to interview both students and employer.  This is a vital part of the year's programme and suspending the timetable will mean that students will not miss essential work whilst they are out of school.  It will also enable us to integrate Work Experience more fully into every student's curriculum.   They will be expected to complete assignments before, during and after their placement. 

We operate Work Experience in conjunction with HCS who deal with all the external administration and negotiation with employers.  Placements are available in Maldon, Chelmsford, South Woodham Ferrers and Burnham in a wide range of job types.  Parents and students can arrange a Work Experience placement with a firm not in the HCS Scheme. With an increasing number of students from different schools going out during the same period, this is an option we would encourage parents and students to pursue if possible.
