Background: What is it?
The Pupil Premium was introduced in April 2011 and is allocated to schools to work with pupils who have been registered for free school meals at any point in the last six years. Schools also receive additional funding for any student who is in public care and students who have been Adopted from Care.
This funding is allocated to address the current underlying inequalities between children eligible for free school meals (FSM) and their peers by ensuring that funding to tackle disadvantage reaches the pupils who need it most.
Schools are required by the Department for Education to publish information in relation to this funding and how it is used.

How will parents know it is working?
We track all children's progress each term, so we can quickly see if plans are working. If your child takes part in an intervention programme, we will also measure how they are doing at the start of the programme, and the end, so we can see the difference.
We will report to you at your parents' evenings held throughout the year but if you would like information on your child's progress and attainment at any time, please get in touch with your child's Head of Year or Mrs Jo Frost (01621-854681 ext. 8342).
