Joint Heads of Academy

Welcome from our Joint Heads of Academy

Plume, Maldon’s Community Academy, is a thriving, inclusive community that welcomes students, parents/carers, staff and visitors to both our campuses at Mill Road (Years 7-8) and Fambridge Road (Years 9-13).

We are delighted to welcome you to our website. Whether you are a current or prospective parent/carer, or you are considering applying for a job with us, we hope you will find it helpful and informative.

As the sole provider of secondary education in Maldon, the academy considers itself to have a moral duty to offer a broad and balanced curriculum to the community we serve. Parents can find out what their child is learning by consulting our parental curriculum plans. These are located here:

In addition to our taught subjects, the academy also has a burgeoning extra-curricular programme, encompassing sport, the arts and science. We are particularly excited to see the return of trips, including overseas visits, following the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. As Joint Heads, we very much enjoy visiting our students on their Duke of Edinburgh expeditions; we have also proudly sat in the audience watching our students in our school productions, something we really missed in recent years.

It is wonderful that these opportunities have returned to academy life and we are delighted to be able to facilitate access to these activities for our learners. The academy is fortunate to have some excellent facilities, such as our floodlit 4G football pitch, which, like many of our facilities, is put to great use by our students and the wider community.

We are an inclusive and diverse learning family at the heart of a wonderful community in Maldon. We are proud of our many links to the town and its surrounding areas including charitable organisations and businesses.

Visits to the academy are welcome; please also feel free to contact us directly on 01621 854681 if you require any further information or wish to get in touch; we shall be happy to help you.
